Detroit, MI/ Jan. 31 12:15 AM / 38 Metro-Detroit Freeway Shootings Since June 15th
Michigan State Troopers were dispatched to southbound I-75 ramp to westbound Davison for two people shot an undisclosed number of times on the freeway. Both victims were found to be alert and talking. They were transported via EMS to Detroit Receiving Hospital.
During the on going investigation Detroit Police had a male suspect call reporting that someone pointed a gun at him on the freeway causing him to fire his weapon. The suspect has been identified, arrested (by MSP), interviewed and incarcerated. Preliminary investigation revealed that the shooting was over a prior altercation and on-going argument between the victims and suspect.
There have been (at least) 38 reported freeway shootings since June 15th The majority of the shootings have happened on I-96 and Southfield Freeway.

- Exercise caution when driving Metro-Detroit freeways
- Yield right away no matter what.
- De-escalate if possible.
- Stay out of the leftmost lane
