DETROIT, MI/ Oct. 2 6:50 AM EDT / DDOT Bus Service Resumes After 3 Day Strike


DDOT bus service resumed @ 3 AM Monday after a driver walkout on Friday that lasted throughout the weekend.  Police have agreed to a minium of 500 ride alongs per week.  SMART has continued to operate its scheduled service along Gratiot, Woodward and Michigan during DDOT’s walkout.

About 500 members of Amalgamated Transit Union Local 26  (DDOT drivers) have been working under 2 year contract extension.  Friday they staged a work stoppage due to working conditions exacerbated by COVID-19 pandemic.  

85,000 weekday riders impacted.  No reported attendance, violence or injuries
