KANSAS CITY, MO/ 06 Aug 20/Kansas City Council endorses painting Black Lives Matter street murals.

SIGACT: The Kansas City Council voted 12-1 on a resolution which “recognizes the importance and significance of the Black Lives Matter movement and desires to commemorate the message through painting street murals.”

RECOMMENDATION: Expect a lawsuit against the city as has happened in other locations like Tulsa. The lawsuit grounds are under 1st amendment “viewpoint discrimination” protections. Potential conflict point if the mural is eventually completed without provisions for competing or separate “lives matter” messaging.
