Chicago, IL / 10 Aug / Reports of Widespread Looting in Chicago’s Loop
SigAct: Widespread looting in Chicago’s loop after in response to an officer-involved shooting in the Englewood neighborhood. Many high-end retail stores broken into, damaged, and looted along the Magnificent Mile and the Loop. L Service suspended to the Loop, bridges were raised, and ramps closed. Gunshots were heard, presumably between law enforcement and looters, on an ABC 7 broadcast covering the looting. Curfew in place 10 Aug from 8pm – 6am. Looting reported as highly organized suggesting BLM may have played a part.
Recommendations: Avoid Chicago’s loop and downtown – especially at night.
